St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA

Located in historical Old Town Toronto the St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA includes the Hummingbird Centre, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Performing Arts, the Flatiron Building, the St. Lawrence Hall and the north and south St Lawrence Markets, (host of the Saturday morning Farmers Market for 200 years) among the many historical properties.

We boast a large variety of restaurants and clubs and many fine retail stores. We are located east of Yonge St. and south of King St. and within easy walking distance to many hotels and tourist destinations and the financial towers. We support a summer flower and Christmas decoration program utilizing 150 Victorian lampposts throughout the nieghbourhood.

Old Town Toronto celebrated several significant anniversaries in 2003. The St. Lawrence Market is 200 years old, St. James Cathedral 150 years, King Edward Hotel 100 years, Canada’s First Post Office and the Courthouse 175 years to mention a few.

What is a BIA?

A BIA is a non-profit entity whose members consist of all businesses and property owners in the area. This group strives for the improvement and betterment of the area by stimulating local business and traffic. Every business in the area is automatically a member, and achievement and benefit to the area is attained with their funds.
